About GO Vertical

Matt Jones, Owner Based in Llandudno I established “Great Orme Vertical” in 2017. Offering experiences, training in Rock Climbing, Mountaineering and Gorge Walking both locally and internationally. Working with clients of all ages and abilities is what I really enjoy - everything from running a weekly climbing club for members of local schools, training special forces personnel in Alpine terrain, delivering fun family activity sessions to locals and visitors, or organising charity fund raising abseil events. Recently I was filmed for the BBC Weatherman Walking series, taking Derek the Weatherman abseiling here on my beloved Great Orme. As well as working closely with local businesses, GO Vertical has been selected as the sole North Wales provider of club training courses for the British Mountaineering Council. These courses promote safe practise and offer members the opportunity to learn skills in helping them to become more independent walkers, climbers and scramblers. A Master Educator for the Leave No Trace Centre for Outdoor Ethics, my leading approach to sustainability and environmental conservation, led to Great Orme Vertical being awarded “Eco Friendly Tour Company of the Year in Wales 2019” by the “Travel and Hospitality Awards Association” www.thawards.com. GO Vertical has exclusively 5-star reviews and feedback from clients, on TripAdvisor, Facebook and Google. Born and raised in Wales, I have been climbing and mountaineering for over 40 years. Both here in North Wales, and throughout the World; and an instructor in both since the 1990s. My career began through a passion for the sport, and the joy of sharing this passion with others. I hold the prestigious Mountain Training’s “Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor” Award, which is the highest qualification available in the UK, for delivering rock climbing and mountaineering activities. I am an Accredited Practitioner for the “Institute for Outdoor Learning”, and hold awards in several other outdoor activities, together with occupational health and safety awards. It is a pleasure to be able to share amazing climbing experiences with you, in stunning surroundings here in North Wales.
